UK Orthopaedics Industry Group - Giving the UK Orthopaedics industry a voice

Working with the UK Orthopaedics Industry Group, PB Consulting led an advocacy campaign to improve patient access to orthopaedic treatment and help demonstrate the key role that industry plays in supporting the NHS to deliver care.

The UK Orthopaedics Industry Group is part of the Association of British Healthcare Industries, representing the majority of UK’s orthopaedic companies. The sector has faced serious challenges in recent years, most notably the Metal-on-Metal hip failure that damaged their reputation. The group was keen to launch outreach work that would give them a voice with policy makers and NHS officials.

PB Consulting helped the group to develop a campaign and reach targeted key stakeholders with the campaign messages. PB Consulting worked closely with the group to identify and clearly articulate the strategic goals of the group, and developed a campaign that help them achieve these.

PB Consulting then developed the necessary materials to support the campaign. Effective engagement with policy makers and the NHS requires engaging and effective information. PB Consulting developed a number of orthopaedic factsheets and an industry infographic that gave a visual representation of the role of industry in the delivery of healthcare.

What we achieved

The report was launched at a roundtable that included patent groups, clinical groups, and representatives from NHS England. Shortly after the report was published, NHS England sent round a communication to CCGs warning them over arbitrary rationing.
